Business and Workforce Skills Training Center
With the conceptual design assistance from Studio One Eleven, Centro CHA, Inc. a Long Beach non-profit 501(c)(3) social service organization proposes the remodel/renovate and addition of an existing building to create a business and workforce skills training center. The center will address the employment needs of Long Beach’s low-income working families and business community with a focus on expansion of apprenticeships and a work-and-learn training model that encourages job creation and business expansion and entrepreneurship in technology, transportation/logistics, hospitality, and retail.
The project will be located 1858-1862 Atlantic Avenue and will include the remodel/renovation an existing 4,830 sq. ft building, expand the building to the south with an addition of approximately 2,240 sq. ft. and upgrade a 23-space surface parking lot with lighting and landscape. Program space provided in the remodel/renovation/addition includes offices, workstations, lobby area, interview rooms, classrooms, conference room, training kitchen, file room, lunchroom, bathrooms, storage, and axillary space. Total programmable space is approximately 6,947 sq. ft.
